Get Ready for an Electrifying Home Opener: Rapids vs. Rivermen

The Paugan Falls Rapids are back, and they’re kicking off their home opener this Saturday, October 5th, with a thrilling matchup against one of their fiercest rivals, the Arnprior Rivermen. If last season’s battles are anything to go by, fans are in for a nail-biting, edge-of-your-seat showdown. Every game between these two teams last year was decided by just one goal, including two that went to overtime. With both teams looking to make a statement early in the season, this promises to be an unforgettable start to the year!

Rivalry Reignited: Rapids vs. Rivermen
The Arnprior Rivermen have reloaded their roster and are coming into the game hot after an 8-3 victory over the South Grenville Rangers last weekend. Their lineup is bolstered by some heavy-hitting newcomers, including Dylan McMahon (NCAA III), Tristan Francis (NCAA III), Shea Guthrie (NCAA I & ECHL), and Dante Parent (Gatineau Flames). Combined with returning stars like Luca Nocita and Alex Hulford, the Rivermen are more dangerous than ever.

Meanwhile, the Rapids are excited to unveil some new players of their own, including Mathieu Menard and Logan Beaupre, both making their home debuts. Returning veterans Ryan Peck, Sam McLaughlin, and Raphael Lajeunesse will lead the offensive charge, while the defensive core of Cole Peck, John Mahoney, and the rest of the blue line will aim to stifle the Rivermen’s attack. Expect Malcolm Patry to get the start in goal, looking to build on his impressive performances from last season.

Upgrades On & Off the Ice
Not only will fans be treated to a high-energy game, but this will also be the first chance to see the offseason upgrades at the Gatineau Valley Arena. New arena improvements include freshly painted stands, a new Rapids center ice logo, and upgraded ice paint that will make for a crisp playing surface. The GVA has also created a new VIP viewing room beside the upstairs bar, offering prime views of the ice.

If that wasn’t enough, the arena kitchen has undergone upgrades, including the installation of a brand-new pizza oven and appliances. So, while you’re cheering on the Rapids, don’t forget to grab some delicious food from the canteen!
