Join Us for the Rapids Family Fun Day: Excitement for All Ages!

The Paugan Falls Rapids are thrilled to invite the community to our Family Fun Day this Sunday! We’ve lined up a jam-packed schedule with events for fans of all ages. From public skating with Rapids players to thrilling skill competitions and kids games, this is a day you won’t want to miss. Check out the full schedule and details below!

Event Schedule:

10:00 AM – 10:50 AM | Public Skating Hour
Start your day on the ice! Our public skating hour is open to everyone, with no admission fee this week thanks to the Gatineau Valley Arena. Rapids players will be joining the skate, giving fans a unique chance to skate alongside their favourite players. Whether you’re an experienced skater or just starting, all ages and skill levels are welcome.

11:00 AM | 11 and Under Game
At 11 AM, it’s game time for our 11 and under participants! Team Blue/Dark will face off against Team White in a spirited, fun-filled matchup. Each team will play five-on-five with quick line changes every minute on a whistle to keep the action going. To give everyone a chance to share the ice with Rapids players, each team will have two Rapids players skating alongside them making it a 7v7 game.
Game Format
The game will run for 38 minutes with a running clock, starting right at 11 AM. Kids participating in this game are encouraged to come early for the public skate and warm up from 10:00 to 10:50 AM. Following the game, the 11 and Under group will join the 12-17 group for a quick group photo before the older age group’s game begins. Please note: Registration for the 11 and under group is now closed.

12:30 PM | Rapids Skills Competition Begins

The highlight of the day, the Rapids Skills Competition, will begin at 12:30 PM! See your Rapids players show off their skills and compete in thrilling events, each with a unique twist.

1. Fastest Skater
   Rapids players will each skate a lap as fast as possible, with times announced over the PA system. The player with the fastest time will get to sit in the “Hot Seat” until someone beats their time!
2. Mascot Race: Ronnie Rapid vs. Big Mike
   Immediately following the Fastest Skater competition, fan-favorite mascots Ronnie Rapid and Big Mike will face off in a highly anticipated mascot race. Both mascots have been training all week, so expect a close, exciting race!
3. Hardest Shot
   Next up, players will get two attempts each to record their hardest shot. The Rapids player with the hardest shot will claim the Hot Seat and the title for the day!
4. Accuracy Shooting
   In this event, players will aim to hit each of the four corners of the net as fast as possible, with passes coming from each corner. With a maximum time limit of 45 seconds, accuracy and speed are key to winning this challenge.
5. Breakaway Challenge
   The final event of the competition, the Breakaway Challenge, will test the Rapids’ goal-scoring ability. Players have 45 seconds to score as many goals as possible against a goalie. If there’s a tie for the most goals, tied players will compete in a playoff round.
6. Additional Event (Time Permitting): Puck Control Obstacle Course
   If time allows, we’ll finish off the competition with a puck control obstacle course to test players’ agility and finesse.
