Paugan Falls Rapids Sign Defenceman Jack Paquette for 2026–27 Season
The Paugan Falls Rapids are proud to announce the signing of defenseman Jack Paquette for the 2026–27 season, adding a talented young blueliner with deep family roots in the Gatineau Valley.
While Paquette has spent the past several years playing Junior A hockey, his connection to the area runs deep. Both of his parents are originally from the region, and Jack has attended several Rapids games over the past few seasons while completing his junior career. Now, he'll have the opportunity to represent the community his family has called home for generations.
That connection extends well beyond Jack himself.
His father, Al Paquette, was a familiar face in the historic Central Gatineau Senior Hockey League, spending several seasons in the league and helping the Kazabazua Kings capture the Hopkins Cup championship in 1996. Jack now continues that family tradition by beginning the next chapter of his hockey career with the Rapids.
Paquette joins the Rapids after an impressive Junior A career that included 125 career games in the Central Canada Hockey League (CCHL). Last season, he served as an assistant captain with the Smiths Falls Bears while recording 17 points in 40 games from the blue line, demonstrating the leadership and all-around ability that made him a respected presence both on and off the ice.
Standing 6-foot and weighing 195 pounds, the right-shot defenseman brings a well-rounded game to the Rapids' blue line. A tough competitor, Paquette is known for his strong defensive play, physical edge, excellent hockey IQ, and ability to move the puck efficiently. His vision, poise under pressure, and crisp first pass allow him to transition the puck effectively, while his skating and awareness make him a reliable presence in all three zones.
"We're really excited to have Jack joining the team," said Rapids Head Coach and General Manager Randy Peck. "We've been watching him develop for a couple of seasons now, and we think he's going to be a really great addition to our team."
Paquette will wear No. 2 for the Rapids during the 2026–27 season.
The Rapids are excited to welcome Jack and his family to the organization and look forward to seeing him make an immediate impact on the blue line this season.
