Rapids Announce 2026–27 Season Schedule

The countdown to another season of Rapids hockey is officially on!

The Paugan Falls Rapids have released their 2026–27 regular season schedule, featuring 10 home games at the Gatineau Valley Arena between October and February.

From the Home Opener and the return of the Battle of Quebec to the fourth annual Holiday Classic and several special events still to be announced, there will be plenty to look forward to at the GVA this season.

Here’s a look at what’s coming up on home ice in 2026–27.

October 17 — Home Opener vs. South Stormont Mustangs

The home schedule begins Saturday, October 17, as the Rapids welcome the South Stormont Mustangs to the GVA for the 2026–27 Home Opener.

Kimberly Gabie will perform the national anthem before the Rapids hit the ice through a smoke and light show, with more opening-night announcements still to come. After a 12-8 season last year, South Stormont is expected to be among the league's top teams in 2026–27, giving the Rapids an exciting early-season test.

October 24 — Battle of Quebec vs. Shawville Pontiacs

One week later, the Battle of Quebec returns to the GVA.

The Rapids and Shawville Pontiacs meet for the first time this season on October 24. As the league's two Quebec teams and local rivals, meetings between the Rapids and Pontiacs have become some of the most anticipated matchups on the schedule.

November 7 — Arnprior Rivermen

Division rival Arnprior makes its first trip to the GVA on November 7.

It will be Arnprior's first game back in Low since the Rapids eliminated the Rivermen 5-2 in last season's playoff play-in game, adding another chapter to a divisional matchup that has produced plenty of memorable moments.

November 14 — Arnprior Rivermen + Special Event

The Rivermen return just one week later, but November 14 will feature more than the matchup on the ice.

A special event at the GVA is planned for that evening, with full details to be announced soon.

November 28 — Smiths Falls Rideaus + Teddy Bear Toss Game

The Rapids' annual Teddy Bear Toss returns to the Gatineau Valley Arena on November 28, with fans invited to bring teddy bears to toss onto the ice as part of one of the team's annual game-day traditions.

The night will also mark the first time Rapids fans get to see the Smiths Falls Rideaus at the GVA. After moving over from the league's western side this season, Smiths Falls arrives following an impressive 18-1-1 regular-season record last year, adding an intriguing new matchup to the Teddy Bear Toss festivities.

December 12 — Akwesasne Wild + Annual Food Drive

A revamped Akwesasne Wild roster comes to the GVA on December 12 for the Rapids' final home game before Christmas.

Akwesasne added several notable pieces during the offseason, acquiring Johnny Cyr and Ryan Lough from the Manotick Mariners before completing a blockbuster trade with the South Stormont Mustangs for Isaac Barr. The matchup will also be the first between Akwesasne and the Rapids since Greg Gibson was traded to Paugan Falls. With both teams retooling their rosters, their first meeting of the season provides an intriguing matchup.

December 12 will also feature the annual food drive in partnership with St. Michael's High School and Queen Elizabeth Elementary School. Fans attending the game are encouraged to bring non-perishable food items to support the drive.

January 2 — Fourth Annual Holiday Classic vs. Shawville Pontiacs

The Rapids open 2027 with one of the biggest dates on the schedule: the fourth annual Holiday Classic.

Held while many former residents, family members and friends are back in the area for the holidays, the Holiday Classic has developed into a reunion of sorts at the GVA and one of the best-attended nights of the hockey season. The game has twice set attendance records at the Gatineau Valley Arena since its introduction.

This year's edition adds the Battle of Quebec to the occasion, with the Shawville Pontiacs visiting the GVA on Saturday, January 2 for the first Rapids game of 2027.

January 22 — South Grenville Rangers

Friday night hockey comes to the GVA on January 22 as the Rapids host the South Grenville Rangers for the only Friday night home game of the 2026–27 regular season.

It will also be South Grenville's first and only regular-season visit to Low this season. For fans who don't typically make it out on Saturday nights, the Friday night matchup offers a different opportunity to catch a Rapids game at the GVA.

January 30 — Madawaska Valley Wolves

The final stretch of the home schedule begins January 30 when the Madawaska Valley Wolves make their first visit of the season.

Madawaska Valley finished last season with a 15-5 record, setting up a strong matchup as the regular season enters its final weeks.

February 6 — Regular-Season Home Finale vs. Madawaska Valley Wolves

The Wolves return one week later on February 6 for the regular-season home finale.

With the playoffs approaching, the matchup will mark the final regular-season game at the Gatineau Valley Arena before the Rapids turn their attention toward the postseason.
