Rapids Face Rockets & Comets in Crucial Weekend Matchups, Plus All-Star Game Saturday!

Rapids at Rockets - Friday, January 10th

This weekend, the Paugan Falls Rapids are in for a thrilling stretch of games that will test their resilience and playoff hopes. First up, the team heads into a re-scheduled game on Friday, January 10th, to face the North Dundas Rockets, who are currently undefeated with an impressive record of 14-0. The Rockets have dominated the league so far, boasting a goals-for average of 6.7 and the best special teams in the league, with a 29% power play and 86% penalty kill. The last time these teams met, the Rockets came out on top with an 8-1 win in November, but the Rapids have since demonstrated they can go toe-to-toe with top teams, especially after their recent strong performances against the Manotick Mariners. Look for the Rapids to bring the energy from those encounters and the experience they gained in last year’s playoff series against the Rockets.

Rapids at Comets - Sunday, January 12th

On Sunday, January 12th, the Rapids will take on the Pontiac Comets in another important matchup. The Comets have gotten the better of the Rapids in all three matchups this season, with the scores staying close (2-1, 5-3, 5-2), but the Comets have still found ways to edge out the Rapids. With the Rapids just 3 points behind the Comets in the standings, this game is crucial for playoff positioning and could have a major impact on the team's seeding. The stakes couldn’t be higher for the Rapids in this must-win game as they push to pass the Comets in the standings.

EOSHL All-Star Game - Saturday, January 11th

In addition to these exciting matchups, the first-ever EOSHL All-Star Game will take place on Saturday, January 11th in Prescott, Ontario, and the Rapids will be well represented! Ryan Peck, Cole Peck, and Aidan Foley have been selected to represent the Eastern Conference, and Randy Peck will serve as an assistant coach for the East.

  • Ryan Peck leads the Rapids in scoring with 17 points in 13 games (9 goals, 8 assists) and is currently ranked 9th in Eastern Conference goal scoring.
  • Cole Peck leads Eastern Conference defensemen with 14 points in 14 games (4 goals, 10 assists), while his play has been crucial to the Rapids’ success this season.
  • Aidan Foley has been a steady presence in goal, boasting a 3-3 record, an .898 save percentage, and a 4.46 GAA.

The All-Star Game festivities will begin with a skills competition at 5:00 PM, followed by the game, with puck drop scheduled for 7:00 PM. It’s a great opportunity to cheer on our Rapids players as they showcase their talent among the league’s best!
