Standout Performances in Net
Aidan Foley was a bright spot for the Rapids, earning praise for his spectacular effort in net. Despite facing an overwhelming 61 shots, Foley posted an impressive .885 save percentage, making numerous key saves to keep the game competitive in the first half. His poise under relentless pressure helped prevent the game from getting out of hand early.
Player of the Game
Nolan Peck earned Player of the Game honours for the Rapids. His relentless work ethic and determination on both ends of the ice provided a much-needed spark for the team.
Game Flow
The first period was a closely contested affair, with both teams generating quality chances. Mariners goaltender Berk Berkeliev was a difference-maker, turning away several Rapids odd-man rushes to preserve his team’s early momentum. By the end of the first, the Mariners had a 2-0 lead.
In the second period, the Rapids continued to fight hard, but the Mariners gradually began to take control. Late in the period, Manotick extended their lead to 4-0. The third period saw the Mariners add three more goals to seal the victory.
Lessons and Looking Ahead
Despite the loss, the Rapids found positives to build on, including key lessons for future matchups. They are scheduled to face the Mariners twice more this season, with home games in Low on December 14 and January 4. These contests will provide an opportunity for the Rapids to showcase their growth and implement what they’ve learned from this challenging outing.
