Rapids Install New Protective Netting

During the 2025 offseason, the Paugan Falls Rapids funded the installation of new protective netting behind the Zamboni-end goal at the Gatineau Valley Arena.

The existing black netting had become difficult to see through and had developed several holes. Its condition significantly affected the view from the Rapids Fan Zone, with some spectators choosing to watch from other areas of the arena.

Improving Safety and Visibility

The project replaced the deteriorating netting with a brand-new system professionally installed by Eastern Rink Services.

The new netting restored the protective barrier behind the goal while dramatically improving visibility from the Fan Zone. Spectators can now enjoy a much clearer view of the ice without compromising the safety of those watching from this end of the arena.

A Better Fan Zone Experience

The Rapids Fan Zone was originally created to provide additional spectator space and one of the arena’s most distinctive views. Replacing the netting allowed the area to better serve that purpose and made it a more comfortable and enjoyable place to watch the game.

The project represented another important investment by the Rapids in the Gatineau Valley Arena—improving spectator safety, enhancing the viewing experience and supporting the overall function of the facility.
