Rapids Sign Versatile Forward Ric Shin
The Paugan Falls Rapids are excited to announce the signing of forward Ric Shin for the 2025–26 season.
Standing at 6’1” and 185 pounds, Shin brings both size and skill to the Rapids lineup. A right-handed shot capable of playing any forward position, he is known for his skating ability, offensive instincts, and versatility on the ice. His presence strengthens the Rapids’ forward group and adds valuable depth for the season ahead.
Shin has already made an impression in a Rapids uniform. During the club’s exhibition game in Masham on September 6th against the Smiths Falls Rideaus, he recorded a goal and an assist, showcasing his speed, awareness, and offensive touch. His standout performance quickly caught the attention of both fans and coaches, confirming he had the tools to make an immediate impact.
A product of the Ottawa hockey system, Shin’s career has taken him through several competitive programs. He spent the 2023–24 season with the Arnprior Rivermen, and prior to that developed his game with the Winchester Hawks and Ottawa West Golden Knights at the junior level. Each stop helped shape him into the dynamic player the Rapids are eager to add to their lineup.
Head coach & GM Randy Peck praised Shin’s skill set and adaptability:
“He has good hands, great awareness on the ice and we think he’ll be a great addition to the team.”
The Rapids see Shin as more than just a scoring threat. His ability to shift into any forward role will allow the coaching staff to use him in a variety of situations — whether that’s generating offense on a scoring line, providing stability in a checking role, or filling in wherever injuries or matchups demand.
For Rapids fans, Shin’s signing is another reason to be excited about the upcoming season. His combination of size, speed, and versatility should make him a player to watch as the team prepares to battle through the 2025–26 campaign.
