Third Annual Holiday Classic Set for Saturday Night in Low
One of the most anticipated nights of the Paugan Falls Rapids season is almost here. The Rapids will welcome the Akwesasne Wild to the Gatineau Valley Arena this Saturday, December 27th, for the Third Annual Holiday Classic.
Puck drop is scheduled for 7:00 PM, with warm-up beginning at 6:30 PM.
Now in its third year, the Holiday Classic has quickly become a staple on the Rapids calendar. Each of the first two editions ranked among the highest-attendance games in team history, and with families home for the holiday break, the game has earned a reputation as one of the most fun and energetic nights of the season. The rink is consistently packed with longtime supporters, returning holiday visitors, and fans making it their one must-see Rapids game of the year.
Saturday’s matchup also brings a compelling on-ice storyline. The Rapids and the Wild have met just once this season, a tightly contested battle that ended in a hard-fought 4–3 overtime victory for the Rapids. Fans can expect another fast-paced and competitive game as the two teams meet for the second time.
The Rapids enter the Holiday Classic primed and ready, set to ice one of their most competitive lineups of the season. Several new players are expected to suit up for their first games in Rapids colours, adding extra intrigue and excitement to an already important matchup.
Off the ice, the full game-night experience fans have come to expect will be on display. Ronnie Rapid will be in the building, keeping the energy high and the crowd engaged throughout the night. Regular fan-favourite activities including the 50/50 draw, Chuck-a-Puck, and the First Intermission Challenge will all be taking place.
Adding to the tradition, anthem singers Selina McCambley and Jan McCambley return after delivering one of the most memorable anthem performances of last season’s Holiday Classic. Fans are encouraged to arrive early to make sure they don’t miss it.
The Third Annual Holiday Classic is proudly sponsored by Lachapelle’s Restaurant, Wakefield Plumbing, and BG Excavating.
Tickets are available for $10 at the door or online, with kids aged 12 and under admitted free.
With a proven holiday atmosphere, a competitive matchup, and one of the strongest lineups the Rapids have iced all season, the Third Annual Holiday Classic promises another unforgettable night at the Gatineau Valley Arena. Fans are encouraged to arrive early, bring the whole family, and be part of one of the biggest nights of the year in Low.
